Surfers Paradise is one of many beaches prone to sand erosion. Sand erosion occurs when waves, wind or other forces collide with the sand, which results in. This causes the sand to wash away leaving a sand wall onshore. These issues cause tourists to go elsewhere and businesses to shut down because less money is coming in. Two management projects have been proposed to help resolve the issue of coastal erosion and beach stabilization. These include sand pumping and an artificial reef. Sand pumping and artificial reefs both come with the positive and negatives aspects they have on the social, economic and environmental societies. Sand pumping has many positive impacts on the community as these include, looking nicer when done (social), fun for kids to play in (social), cheaper than artificial reefs (economic), and redistribution of sand (environmental). The negatives of sand pumping also have their impacts as theseimpact. These include, expensive to redistribute regularly as it is impossible to change wind and destructive waves as it is (economic & environmental), will harm to businesses (economic) and sand pumping does not interfere with normal ocean marine habitats (environmental). Artificial reefs also have their positives impacts on the social, economic and environmental societies while these. These include, safer beaches for swimmers (social), bring in more fish (environmental), and artificial reefs are cheaper over a longer period (economic). Artificial reefs also have its negative impacts. as theseThese include interference with normal ocean marine habitats (environmental), and artificial reefs are more expensive over a longer period (economic).
