National
Transport
Commission
is
responsible
for
maintaining
and
updating
two
legal
areas
, the
Australian
Code
for
the
Transport
of
Dangerous
Goods

Model
Law.

The
Department
of
Infrastructure
and
Regional
Development
works
with
the
states
and
territories,
and
as well as the
National
Transport
Commission,
to
promote
best
practice
and
internationally
harmonised
legislation
for
the
land
transport
of
dangerous
goods
in

The
Department
has
two
main
purposes
: to
provide
policy
advice
on
national
and
international
dangerous
goods
matters,
and
to
provide
secretariat
support
to
the
Competent
Authorities
Panel.
