Tempoyak is a typical food from Lampung. This food has a sweet, sour, savory taste, and a pungent aroma, so that it becomes a distinctive taste. Usually, Tempoyak is used as a side dish when eating rice and a mixture to make chili sauce.
Tempoyak comes from durian fruit which is fermented with a little salt, then cayenne pepper is added to speed up the fermentation process. After that, the dough is tightly closed and stored in a closed place. The fermentation process is carried out for 5-7five to seven days.
Tempoyak also has benefits such as being able to maintain the immune system and digestive systemsystems in the body. However, if we consume a lot of Tempoyak, we will feel nauseous and dizzy. And also, Tempoyak should not be consumed together with drugs because it will cause poisoning.
