My name is Terriana Jones and I am a senior at Howard University from Garner, North Carolina. I am currently studying nutritional sciences with a minor in biology and chemistry. I was invited by the East Carolina School of Dental Medicine tofor an interview on November 5th, 2020. With the school’s unique vision of focusing on the quality of health and increasing the number of dentists in North Carolina, I am certain that it will allow me to accomplish my goal of providing adequate care to underserved communities while focusing on incarcerated individuals. Attending East Carolina School of Dental Medicine will not only provide me with the clinical skills needed to serve North Carolinians, but it will also allow me to gain knowledge in community-based dentistry. If granted the opportunity, I will gladly accept the offer to join the East Carolina School of Dental Medicine Class of 2025.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to interview with Dr. Wilson, Dr. Cusp, Dr. Aileru, and Student Dr. Brittanie Height. From this opportunity, I learned more about the school’s mission, culture, and clinical opportunities available to dental students. From forming a friendship with both Monique Duru, my mentor and Rachel Porter, the President of the Student National Dental Association, I am familiar with the values and urge of creating transformative change in the community. With Rachel Porter being the first Howard University Alumna to attend East Carolina School of Dental Medicine, I would love to follow in her footsteps in becoming the second graduate from that university.
