.). In light of the circumstances, WHO (2019b) adopted a new strategic plan to assess and address the global burden of snakebite envenoming. The WHO roadmap embraces national governments, civil society, and the wider international community to take coordinated and coherent action to attain the goal of reducing mortality and morbidity by 50% before 2030 (HAI, 2019). HAI’s programme on snakebite envenoming is taking steps to increase global awareness of the disease and act on prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation (HAI, 2017). With an aim to accelerate the progress towards ending unnecessary suffering caused by snakebite envenoming, HAI continues to educate the public on snakebite prevention and practices in first aid in response to a snakebite. They also play a major role to ensure that governments, the private sector, and WHO is on a path towards universal health coverage. HAI further mentions that the objectives of the snakebite envenoming strategy are best realised when governments actively and consistently adopt recommendations by the WHO.
