Teen parenthood is a major issue whichthat affects most of themany female teens in Canada today. The issue has a great effect on the children born byto these teens. For instance, these babies are likely to have difficulties in acquiring cognitive activities such as thinking, understanding, learning, remembering, and language skills. The social and the emotional skills, such as self-confidence and self-control, of these children are also low. These difficulties come from the confinements that are done toexperienced by these children from the infancy stage ("How Adolescent Parenting Affects Children, Families, and Communities,” 2014). The teenTeen parents normally try to hide the pregnancytheir pregnancies out of shame, from the public and even from thetheir family members. This doesn’t give the infant the freedom to develop under medical care, thereby resulting in the complications to the baby even after birth.
According to this study, teen parenting has been on the rise steadily in Canada in the recent past (Bielski, 2013). The reason there is an increased level of teen parenthood in Canada today is due to lack of proper guidance and teaching doneprovided to the girls in their teenage years about the unwanted pregnanciespregnancy prevention. There is also an increased rate of unprotected sex among the teensteens. Also, the increasedincrease in early pregnancy has beencan be brought about by the hopeless naturesentiment that is developed by themany teenage girls towards their studies; therefore, they don’t see the value of education.
TheSome strategies that can be applied to resolve this issue are through educating the teens about the impacts of early pregnancy and how they can abstain from the sex. The teensTeens can also be provided with sex education and contraceptives to prevent them from getting to early pregnancy that can leadleads to teen parenthood. There should also be motivational classes with motivational speakers to encourage the students to focus and work hard on their education.
