Each year, in New South Wales alone, thousands of greyhounds are tragically injured or murdered due to their inability to race. The greyhound racing industry is incredibly corrupt, covering up how many dogs are killed yearly, how many are born yearly, and other figures, such as financial information, etc. Furthermore, it’s been reported that these industries take part in money laundering which further proves that this industry is flawed beyond belief. I contentcontend that this horrifyingly corrupted industry is an excuse for animal cruelty and needs to be shut down immediately.

An average greyhound has thea life expectancy of 12 years, but in the racing industry, these greyhounds aren’t expected to live past the age of 4.5 years old, and if they’re not one of the lucky 5.5% of greyhounds that get rehomed, they’re euthanised.
