I’m this essay i’m GoingI’m going to explain my reasons for believing that Ozymandias and Exposure are completely different.
A common feature of both both of the texts is that they are both about power,. Shelley shows this when she quotes what Ozymandias said which was, “My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!” This quote shows power as it showsin that Ozymandias thinks he is the best and that nobody else stands a chance of overpowering him. This is a warning to all other rulers.
Power is mirrored in Exposure when Wilfred Owen says, “Worried by silence, sentries whisper, curious, nervous, but nothing happens.” thisThis shows the power that the war hadwar's power over the soldiers, and, how although nothing is happening, they’re still in danger because they are exposed to the cold and the wait is terrifying to them.
Both authors take the same approach in explaining the detail of how much power they had and in making you understand the extreme measures of what power can do to a person.
On the contrary they can, both be seen as very different as: in Ozymandias it’s showingit shows the consequences aboutof having totoo much power, whereas Exposure is showingshows the consequences of having no power.
Another reason why Ozymandias and Exposure are different is because of the fact that Ozymandias shows more physical power and Exposure shows more emotional power, this. This is shown when ShelleyShelle says, “The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.” The statement this shows how ruthless Ozymandias couldcan be physically. Whereas in Exposure, when Wilfred Owen says, “Our brains ache,” this could signal toreference PTSD and shows how emotionally traumatising the war was for them.
In conclusion, I think Ozymandias and Exposure are different in more ways than they are similar.
