London Eye, completed in 1999, also known as the Millennium Wheel (Millennium Wheel) -is an observation wheel (ferris wheel) located in the Lambeth district of London, on the south bank of the Thames, between the Westminster and Hungerford bridges. It was designed by David Marx, Julia Barfield, Malcolm Cook, Mark Sparrowhawka, Steven Chilton and Nick Bailey. The wheel has a height of 135 meters and its full turnover lasts about 30 minutes [1]. There are 32 air-conditioned passenger capsules on the wheel. The low linear speed of these cabins (about 0.8 km / h) allows passengers to be picked up and set down without stopping the wheel [2].
London Eye is one of the three buildings built in London for the new millennium, the others are The O2 and The Millennium Bridge.
The wheel was built within sections, parts of which were transported by the River Thames. The opening was made by Prime Minister Tony Blair on December 31, 1999, but due to technical problems, the circle did not workmove until March 2000.
