Learning about the innovation in the field of renewable energy and design thinking in Infosys Limited, I decided to integrate them with software to design an eco-friendly, efficient, economical, smart and aesthetic wind harvester. This had been a long-standing challenge at Infosys, which I joined in 2014. I used a lightweight 7*15 cm polymer plastic wing, embedded with a Piezoelectric polymer, and glued it to a vertical pole, capable of rotating, to create an innovative model to harvest wind energy. These units were connected in series and the electricity generated from the vibrating motion of the wings was stored in a battery. A wind-wane was used to get the wind direction, and based on its output, I programmed all the units, using Arduino, to constantly face the wind for maximum efficiency. I overcame the challenge of constantly changing wind direction by sampling the inputs, and automated the positioning of wings based on consistency in wind pattern. I was delighted that this design was used for installation on terraces
