Racism and the inequality of African Americans hasve been in existence since the mid-17th century. Europeans were superior and brought Africans to America, to work hard, slave labor. Slaves had to give up their religions, look past education, and were forced to do cruel tasks for their masters. Slavery was not a trade that Africans decided on their own, they were forced, without their consent, to perform brutal tasks. SMany slave owners tortured slave and whipped them constantly. Some of the female slaves were raped by their masters, to give them pleasure and produce more slaves for sale and trade. These types of events occurred daily, but slaves were not allowed to do anything about their situations. Enslaved sSlaves were controlled in every aspect. The slaves were considered inferior to the Wwhites, so they were treated with disrespect. African Americans were not safe, because there were no laws thato protected their rights. Since African American slaves fell victim to moral and physical injustices, the role of reparations came into play. Slaves haved endured traumatic events, so it would only be right to be compensated for the cruelty they faced. Reparations are a form of payment to compensatinge for the wrong doing.
