The objective of this research is to investigate how political cynicism and political alienation explain the electoral participation of bBrazilian students age between 16 and 17 years, as the literature review indicates that high indexes of both variables have an negative impact on this aspect. Data collection for the purpose of this study was done through a quantitative questionnaire survey, which was carried out in a public bBrazilian high school. After comparative analysis the results showed that both variables (political cynicism and political alienation) have considerable effects on the electoral participation among the sample population used in this study.
