In my current organization, our operational goals, which are short- term and contributory to our long-term goals, isare achieving our monthly sales targets. My company has a system in place that rewards employees (apart from sales representatives and management) a flat bonus when sales targets are met.
According to Prof. Safayeni, “goals can motivate employees if it is a region of activity”. I agree with this completely, as it is truhe case in my organization. The goals that motivate my team members at work are the goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time -bound. Smart goals set by management are easily understood and agreed on by my team members, and it is mostly effective when we receive constant feedback on the progress we are making towards the goal. (in the case of achieving our sales targets, we get to know thowe numuchber of sales we have made, and how much is needed to reach our target).
