In Italo Calvino’s “The Black Sheep,, the moral of the story, is that our political system, benefits only those who are willing to take advantage of others, and is taught, by how they were still taking advantage of each other, even after they stopped stealing, and also by the unfortunate death of the honest man. An example of this, is how, at the end of the story, it states that, “...people no longer spoke of robbing and being robbed, but only of the rich and the poor; but they were all still thieves. This powerful quote, shows that you don’t have to be physically stealing anything, to be a thief. The rich in the story, are still “stealing” from the poor, by being greedy and using selfish methods, to get ahead. Another example from the story, is how at the end of the story it states, “The only honest man had been the one at the beginning, and he died in very short orderquickly, of hunger.. This shows, how it’s not only impossible to be an honest man and thrive, but impossible to be an honest man and survive.
