For 3three years, I had the opportunity of learning the exquisite art of surgery, the importance of teamwork, to always work for and bywith the patient, and that the workday does not finish until the goals set were achieved,. butHowever, more importantly, and one of the things that marked my life as a doctor, is learning the great commitment that comes with the patient, a unique bond that encourages you to give 100 % of your effort, and to always be with them, even more so in adversity. I also understood the importance of empathy, a simple smile in the morning, to always speak to the patients with the truth, because ultimately we have in our hands the most valuable thing a human being has:, his health.
I clearly remember the story that made me decide to take Ssurgery as part of my lifestyle: - a lady on whom I operated because of a breast cancer with more than 10 years of remission, attended a follow-up visit with my father. She admitted, with great sensitivity in her words, that she saw the diagnosis as her death sentence, but there she was, 10 years later, with many goals and a life to live. At that moment I understood that trying to give patients a second chance to live will be my greatest motivation.
