About a year ago, I went back to Mexico to visit my native town. Although it was beautiful, amazing, and breathtaking, I couldn't bring myself to call it home. To me, home is America; I love this country!! This is the place where I lost my first tooth, learned to ride a bike, got my drivers license, got accepted into a an outstanding college, and where I also had the opportunity to vote. America has been my home. I have been proud to call myself an American, but it saddens me to think people who are supposed to be leaders place Mexicans along with other races and ethnicities, in an other category.; Tthat just because we are not white, we are not American. We are outcasted and humiliated due to our roots. The country I love is being turned into a place of hate, separation, and violence. The fact that people would even cheer for a man that will deport thousands of families (which include American children) really terrifies me. I can't believe the country I once called home will no longer accept me. Where am I from, then? Ni de aqui, no de alla.
