The growing demand for energy, linked to the reduction of fossil fuel reserves and environmental pollution, has required research to develop renewable energy sources.
The production of eEthanol from lLignocellulosic waste, the so-called second-generation eEthanol emerges as a viable alternative, since these materials have low added value and have a high potential for bioconversion.
This work was intended to produce eEthanol from fermentation of sSisal pPulp lLiquor (Agave sSisalana) treated pre and hydrolyzed under optimal conditions.
The monitoring of fermentation kinetics in batch reactor allowed assessment of glucose consumption, eEthanol production and microbial mass.
The maximum eEthanol production occurred in 10h20min fermentation atigindo a concentration 11,885 g. L-1, at this time all glucose had been consumed.
The conversion efficiency was 88%, the maximum specific rate of growth was 0.103 h-1 to yield de 1,15 g. L-1.h-1.
