Animal Farm is a political allegorical novella written by George Orwell,. whichIt describes the shaping-up, rising, and distortion of an “animalism” revolution as a satire onf the Russian Revolution.
Benjamin had the most contradictory role in the novel
, and the author Orwell admitted that the donkey actually represents his own political stance, making the donkey a charming and sophisticated character who is worthy of further exploration.
In the original work, Benjamin rarely revealed his true feelings, making his inner journey an enigma to the readers. He was the only donkey in
the Manor Farm who was old, cynical, shrewd, and cautious. His intelligence appeared superior to the other animals, yet he did not take any action throughout the story, not even saving his only devoted friend, Boxer, from death.
My written assignment is about Benjamin’s innermost thoughts in the form of a formal letter to his dead friend
, Boxer. Written on his deathbed, Benjamin’s letter was never intended to be read by Boxer, but rather, was writiteng to himself, looking inward, reviewing the past, and resolving his regrets.
The language I used in this work is formal and sophisticated,
which reflectsing Benjamin’s role as an intellectual and detached observer. I continued the story along the trajectory of the storyline in Animal Farm to speculate what happened after the story finished. I have also reflected on Benjamin’s faults, regrets, and the consequences. In my text-type, I have ended on a positive note that in spite of Benjamin’s cynicism, at the end of the letter, he makes peace with Boxer by acknowledging that they will meet on the Sugarcandy Mountain.
