It is appropriate when mothers and daughters have different interests in leisure and recreation because they belong to different generations. I think that Bliss is happier than her mother because Bliss belongings to a younger generation with a different viewpoint about gender role,s. Bliss does what she likes even though her parents want her to do something else. Also, Bliss is happier because she has support from friends and finds a place where she fits in forwith her passions. In contrast, with different beliefs influenced by traditional culture, Bliss’s mother has done well for herself and wants her daughter to do what she thinks is good for a woman based on the society expectations of society. She may have something she loves to do but she has to stop it in order to be in compliance with the societal views.
