A stuntman is a man with special skills who duplicatesstands in for the actor in dangerous scenes during the making of a film, or a theater performance. The stuntman's task is to replace the actor in scenes in which the actor can not cope; because of lesshaving the required physical fitness, or because of the dangerrisk of injury. It also happens that in some scenes, stuntmen do not duplicatestand in for or play their characters (eg. in scenes of fights, chases, etc.). A contemporary stuntman is sometimes alsoalso at times an artist performing in an independent show, and in circuses.
